The number of people infected with the new coronavirus in Germany is 42,228 people, up 5,780 from yesterday. The virus has so far killed 253 people, the Robert Koch Institute said.
The upper house of the German parliament, the Bundestag, has approved a government package of measures to alleviate the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, totaling 750 billion euros.
This completes the accelerated parliamentary procedure for adopting the package of measures. The Bundestag approved the package from the German government on Wednesday.
Comprehensive measures include credit guarantees to help the economy, direct financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises, and health care assistance.
