A team of scientists who conducted the study led by Professor Guenter Kampfom of the University of Greifswald in Germany investigated various objects made of plastic, glass, steel, aluminum and other metals, wood, paper and ceramics and how they react when exposed to corona.
They found that coronavirus could survive on dead surfaces such as metal, plastic and glass for up to nine days.
Specifically, their research showed that coronavirus on metal surfaces can last for exactly five days. Interestingly, aluminum objects are most certain that the corona virus survives there for two to eight hours. Plastic is the worst and here the coronavirus can last for two to nine days.
Coronavirus can also be effectively neutralized by disinfecting the surface from 62 to 71% dissolved ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide or 0.1% sodium hypochloride within a minute, Kampf said.
