The EC says - 12.4 million euros for three projects for Roma

The European Commission announced last week that it would undertake a series of activities worth more than 25m euros in the Western Balkans, to be provided through EU pre-accession funds (IPA).

The purpose of these funds is primarily to help vulnerable populations during a coronavirus pandemic, including Roma, women victims of violence, children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

This will be done in co-operation with the European Council, the UN, UNICEF, UNDP and the Red Cross, the commission said.

European Commission's Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement spokeswoman Anna Pisonero-Hernandez explained to Udar what the projects were.

- As part of KOVID-19's response to support the most vulnerable categories most affected by the pandemic, a total of EUR 4.4 million has been allocated to three projects already being prepared to provide additional KOVID-19 activities, including the Roma Support Question. so the total amount of EU funds for these projects has risen to 12.4 million euros - Pisonero-Hernandez told us.

One of the projects is ROMACTED II, a regional project funded by IPA funds and implemented by the Council of Europe. This project is being implemented in 75 municipalities in the Western Balkans and Turkey.
