Zivko Rakulic died on April 1 in the early morning hours, in front of the health clinic in Sremska Mitrovica, because, as his family claims, he was not admitted to the outpatient clinic. While a fact-finding commission was set up at the Health Center to investigate the case, the family filed criminal charges against the institution and the employee. The inconsolable Rakulic family said that due to suffocation and pain around six o'clock that morning, Zivko arrived at the ambulance in Sremska Mitrovica with a colleague. A medical technician was waiting for him at the entrance and told him that the case was not urgent and that he should call his doctor at the Health Station. As the ambulance opened at seven o'clock, Zivko soon died in front of the building, probably as a result of a heart attack.
In order to find out the truth, and as they say, this will never happen again, the family hired a lawyer. Criminal charges were filed with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Sremska Mitrovica.
Zivko Rakulic, 56, has been a voluntary blood donor for more than three decades and has helped many. Authorities say the body was exhumed during an investigation into his death.
