Since November 2021, 17 cases of discrimination against Roma have been recorded in Serbia, seven of which have been reported to the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, it was announced today at the presentation of the report "Improving Access to Justice for Roma in Hungary and Serbia" by the non-governmental praxis and "We belong here" (Idetartozunk).
The representative of Praxis, Marija Dražović, emphasized that the key findings of the report are that the Roma are exposed to various forms of discrimination even after 13 years since the adoption of the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination.
She pointed out that Roma are exposed to discrimination every day from a young age and that one can get the impression that "Roma accept certain discriminatory behaviors as an acceptable and normal part of everyday life."
