The WHO says the Balkans are a hotbed of the Kopona virus, and one of the consequences will be that Croatia could be included in the English quarantine list starting today.
WHO officials said they had been "concerned about the Balkans since the beginning of June", due to the large influx of tourists to these areas and the large increase in infected cases.
It is feared that tourists who have flocked to the Balkans will spread the infection further, so it is possible that Croatia will be the first in the region to end up on the "red lists", which means that British citizens will be advised not to travel. there except in emergencies, and that a two-day quarantine awaits them upon their return.
The situation in the Balkans has worried us since the beginning of June, when we saw that the number of cases was growing. "We will have to take appropriate steps to try to prevent infection," said Dr Katherine Smallwood of the WHO, adding that all figures were strictly followed.
In Croatia, they have been struggling all week with the increase in the number of infected people, and yesterday they had the largest number of newly infected people during the whole month. This will cause real hysteria among the British who are already in Croatia or planning a vacation there, because when they returned they did not count on mandatory quarantine.
And a similar fate, it seems, awaits Greece. The numbers are growing with them, but they are still not dramatic, say the WHO.
