Recently, the IRU Cabinet addressed to the President of the IRU Zoran Dimov received a letter from the European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dali stating, among other things:
„Dear Mr Dimov, I thank you for your letter on behalf of the International Romani Union. The European Commission values the dialogue and the cooperation with civil society. We appreciate the work of the International Romani Union and its active involvement in the issues concerning Roma people. I want to assure you that the Commission promotes Roma participation in policy-making at local, national and EU level and also stressed its importance in the new EU Roma Strategic Framework. The Roma-led civil society organisations, including the International Romani Union, are particularly important actors in our work regarding Roma equality, inclusion and participation. The European Commission provides the space and the right platforms for dialogue and constructive discussions on Roma inclusion with the members of the civil societies building alliances and trustful partnerships. To make long-lasting positive changes for the Roma people, the EU and international organisations, Member States, civil society organisations, academia, Roma people and the society as whole must work together, learning and supporting each other. I look forward to our continued collaboration with you and other Roma and pro-Roma civil society organisations to build a healthy and sustainable social environment and to promote equality, inclusion and participation of Roma across Europe. Yours sincerely, (e-signed) Helena Dalli„ says a letter from European Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli.
