Flooded streets, mud, old houses, poverty and misery in the settlement Prilepska in Kicevo. The inhabitants of this settlement are from the Roma community, their houses are built around the river and they face floods every year. 10 people live in a one or two bedroom house. The authorities visit them only before the elections, only for votes, say the residents.
They have only one request - to pave the street with bekaton and to connect to the electricity distribution network because, as they say, they live like in the Middle Ages.
They complain that their children are not admitted to school either because they are not clean and well dressed. There were major floods in this neighborhood in 2018 when the Zajaska River overflowed its banks and flooded many houses and barracks where they lived. More than 800 people were left homeless. As they say, they received compensation only 1,000 denars, money that some took and some did not, because the municipality told them that their accounts were blocked.
