The city authorities in Kragujevac strongly condemned the desecration of the monument to the shot Serbs, Jews and Roma in the Bagremar neighborhood and appealed to the competent institutions to find and punish the perpetrators. According to the website of the City of Kraguavec, the monument is covered with graffiti spray.
At the site of the monument, on October 20, 1941, the Nazi army executed 41 Jews and 81 Serbs and over 20 Roma (mostly children aged 10 to 15) in retaliation for their slain soldiers, reports Telegraf.rs.
Every year on October 20, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the site is visited by representatives of the city authorities and the Israeli embassy, sending messages of peace and tolerance.
