"The platform is part of the dialogue that will take place permanently between civil society organizations and representatives of public authorities, independent bodies, the Coordinating Body for Improving the Position and Social Involvement of Roma Women in Serbia and those whose mission is to work directly with citizens." said the Minister of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue Gordana Chomić, the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) said.
The platform was initiated by this ministry, supported by the German development cooperation program "Inclusion of Roma and other marginalized groups in Serbia" implemented by GIZ.
The head of the economic cooperation department of the German embassy, Christian Schilling, emphasized that the involvement of Roma civil society organizations is essential for Serbia on its way to a prosperous and inclusive society.
"The social inclusion of Roma men and women is one of the most important prerequisites for Serbia to become a truly open and democratic country based on the principles of sustainable development goals. "Serbia has adopted one of the few national strategies for Roma inclusion in Europe," said Funke.
