The International Roma Union - IRU strongly condemns this behavior of the police officers of the Republic of North Macedonia and expresses its indignation over this event.
The IRU deeply believes that the Republic of North Macedonia, as a candidate for EU membership and in the system of the state, has permanently rooted the values of dignity, a just society, non-discrimination and protection of human rights.
At the same time, he warns that the police officers themselves have exceeded their official duty, and the sanction of the police officers will be an example for everyone in the future if they act in a similar way again.
Therefore, the Ministry of Interior is called to condemn the event, to severely sanction the perpetrators and to inform the public about the measures and sanctions taken.
The Public Prosecutor's Office to initiate a procedure, after a voice is touched IMMEDIATELY.
Such treatment of vulnerable groups of citizens, who for many years in the past have been victims of police violence, torture and humiliating treatment, will not restore trust in the police. On the contrary, such behavior additionally contributes to the citizens feeling threatened and scared.
With respect
Zoran Dimov
President of the IRU
