Out of 11 million euros in the field of culture for 2021, less than 50,000 euros have been allocated for the Roma!

The recently published results from the call in the cultural area for 2021 at the media press from the Minister for Culture Dr. Irena Stefovska announced that the 2021 call received a record breaking 6352 applications.

According to the Ministry for culture in 2021 it supports projects which will develop, affirm and promotion of culture, protection and promotion of the cultural heritage of our country and all of this is added with projects from the youth and for the youth. A special emphasis was placed on equal gender representation, inclusion of disabled individuals and intercultural dialogue.

What is "eye-catching" is that from the total budget in the amount of around 11 million euros from various areas of culture, there are less than 50.000 euros allocated for the purposes of the Roma cultural activities, out of the total 6325 applications, the Roma have around twenty approved projects. Are the Roma and the Romani community able to do that, as Minister Stefoska mentioned, quoting the words of the Dutch historian and one of the founders of modern cultural history Johan Hozinga: "If we want to preserve culture, we must continue to create it” Are you able to create culture without any money? If you can, let’s see how.
