Dragan Mutibaric (75), one of the legends of the Macedonian sport, the unforgettable goalkeeper of Vardar these days is facing the most difficult moments in his life. The former national team player and idol of many generations recently had a stroke after which he remained motionless, tied to a bed. Dragan is left in the care of his wife Milica, without whom, as he says, he would be lost.
- The problem is that I had a stroke. That happened to me 15 days ago. I was taken to the hospital, where I lay for 12 days. I'm at home now, recovering. The doctors fired me and did not tell me what to do.
My situation is catastrophic. When it comes time to help, there is no one - Mutibaric is resigned, who despite the minimal income does not want to appeal to the public for help
- I am ashamed to ask for help with a public appeal. That's how I am. Otherwise, I have a very small pension, 13,500 denars. I cannot cope. The cost of medicines and everything else is high. Only on my pension we live with my wife, who has no pension - says Mutibaric, who has been trying for seven years to receive one-time financial assistance from the Agency for Youth and Sports, as a deserving athlete.
- I have been asking for that one-time financial assistance from the Agency for Youth and Sports for seven years, they keep calling me you have a few points. But I do not lose hope, I will apply again. The deadline is now May 22, I need to submit the documents and application to receive such assistance. I am doing this for the eighth time. It is a shame. I was an athlete in Macedonia four times. I have many trophies, awards…
Who is Dragan Mutibartic?
His name as a goalkeeper is mostly tied close to Vardar, but he was also a representative of Yugoslavia. In the 1966/67 season, the goal posts of Vardar witnessed their legend, the unforgettable Dragan Mutibaric. In 1969 he was declared as Sportsman of Macedonia. He left Vardar for Schalke 04 from the German Bundesliga in (1975-1977), then he played for Trepca, and once again in Vardar, and after that, in Teteks, Macedonia Gjorce Petrov, as well as for FC Napredok from Suto Orizari when the club president in that time was the now deceased Amdi Bajram, for who Dragan says that he was one of the best club presidents he’s ever seen and that he wholeheartedly appreciates the Roma people.
