During the official performance "Through the Labyrinth of Romani History" organized by ZRDICM, its curator Master Daniel Petrovski Shpread reminded the present guests about the need for serious scientific historical research on the Roma during the Second World War in Macedonia.
There are data, there are facts, only someone has to support the researchers in their work. Here's just a little tidbit in the context of this. According to the testimonies of the survivors, a large number of Roma women from Macedonia were sexually abused by the occupiers. Also, a large number of Roma from Skopje, Kumanovo, Shtip, Bitola, Prilep were sent to forced labor on the railway line Skopje - Kyustendil. Some of them returned after a few years and some never returned at all. Also, in my research, I came across information that Roma partisans in NOB are not registered as Roma, but as members of another ethnic community.
That is why Petrovski asked the institutions to support the work of the scientific Roma and non-Roma public from Macedonia in their research in order to collect and publish data about the Roma from Macedonia during the Second World War.
