Czech Republic: Czech janitorial services owner says Romani employees sometimes outperform "White" ones

He's in a business involving labor that most people in the Czech Republic don't want to perform - janitorial work. He is successful.

His company's clients include Metrostav, Toyota and CzechInvest. What is it like to do business in the town of Most, the reputation of which is shrouded in prejudice, and to employ Romani staff?

"I know everybody in our company, everyone comes in with their own story," says owner Martin Fajner in a recent interview for ROMEA TV. "That goes for the Roma, too."

"They live in a completely different world, one that others can't even imagine," Fajner describes. "I've never experienced any of the things they sometimes tell me about."

"Unfortunately, they have, though," says the entrepreneur. His own story is quite simple.

Fajner and his business partner did not personally enjoy performing janitorial work in apartment buildings once a month, so they set up a company that offered cleaning as a service. After partnering with the Krušnohor housing cooperative, the company has grown and today has around 70 stable employees and co-workers who work in several cities around the country.

Serbia: More than a third of Roma girls in forced marriage

As many as 34.1 percent of Roma girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are currently married or out of wedlock!

Despite that, according to UNICEF data, the centers for social work immediately intervened in only 29 percent of detected cases, ie they estimated that less than a third endangered the life, health and development of a child in need of protection.

The latest research of "Praxis" showed, however, that less than half of the centers keep special records on child marriages (43 percent). The centers have detected only 313 cases of risk of child marriages in the previous two years, while current UNICEF data show that only 21 percent of children managed to return to the primary family.

Children were not aware that selling children and forcing minors to marry is a criminal offense. They also expressed complete distrust in the institutions, because the authorities did not react appropriately in any situation known to them, and they do not know of a single case in which child marriage was prevented.

Will cryptocurrencies be officially recognized in Macedonia?

The Ministry of Finance, through a new law on prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism, will put in order the "gray" area in which the payment and trading of cryptocurrencies is neither prohibited nor allowed in our country.

Article 8 of the Draft Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism regulates virtual service providers.

Currently in Macedonia cryptocurrencies are most often resold among those who have them, or through several crypto exchange offices in Skopje and online who charge a commission for tips for exchanging digital money. Cryptocurrencies can also be purchased with a bank card from an official exchange that accepts bank cards.

The value of cryptocurrencies has plummeted in recent months. Otherwise, a larger amount of electricity is used for their "digging", for which in the past period the police and EVN discovered dozens of mass thefts of electricity.
