Violence in Brasil: 3rd victim of attack on Roma family in Camaçari

The third man shot during an attack in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, died at the health unit where he was hospitalized. Joel Alves, 45, was shot when he was with his father, Alcides Alves, and brother Nilson Alves, who died instantly.

The crime took place last Wednesday, the 12th. The three were relatives of a couple also killed in Dias D'Ávila, the day before, on Tuesday, the 11th. All of them were members of a gypsy community. Czech Republic: Miroslav Broz hoisted Czech flag modified with Roma symbol and therefore punished

The man who hoisted the Czech-Roma flag on his balcony last April must pay a fine of a thousand crowns(40 euros). The City of Ústí nad Labem imposed it on him for defaming the state symbol. The man hoisted the flag on the occasion of International Roma Day.

Miroslav Brož hoisted the flag last April and then shared her photo via Facebook. One of the users of this social network reported the publication of the photo to the municipality.

Because the report was filed against an unknown perpetrator, the Ústí nad Labem municipality asked for police cooperation and identification of the perpetrator.

According to the server, she invited Miroslav Brož to her, but then handed the case back to the Ústí nad Labem municipality. Czech Police say prisoner killed himself, his relatives don't believe it, dozens of Romani community members protest outside the prison

The Czech Police are investigating the death of a 43-year-old prisoner who was serving his sentence in the Nové Sedlo Prison. According to police, the prisoner attempted suicide and died thereafter.

Relatives of the man, however, do not believe that version of events and are asserting that he did not cause his own death. Several dozen members of the Romani community gathered in front of the prison just after noon today to light candles in commemoration.

The prisoner was transferred to hospital, where he died on Tuesday. "An autopsy has been ordered to clarify the cause of death. Third-party involvement was not ascertained," the police spokesperson added. 

Relatives of the deceased do not believe that version of events and say the man did not commit suicide. Referencing testimony from his fellow prisoners, the relatives of the 43-year-old allege he was beaten by a guard prior to his death.

We encountered a lot of resentment from our families. Me because she is not a Roma woman, and she because I am a Roma woman. For me, hers said that we would not last long, that I was with her only for the benefit, and mine complained that she was not a Roma woman but a gadjovanka, as mine already say about women who are not Roma women. "

Gavro Nikolic says that he and his wife divorced after 17 years of marriage. He told us the reason, but respecting privacy, we do not want to publish it. Only this much - it's not about any prejudices.
