The festival summer in Nis has started with the “Me sem Saban” festival, which was held in front of the Nis Culture Center, after a several month pause. Although with a much simpler program than the usual, the audience enjoyed in listening the songs of the legendary singer Saban Bajramovic which were performed by the Black Mambas, as well as in the music from Nebojsha and Sejdic.

This event which has become a tradition, is held in honor of the 85th anniversary of the birth of the great Roma musician Saban Bajramovic. One of the organizers of the festival and the leader of the Black Mamba group, Nebojsha Saitovic Saita, reminds us that the month of June is fully dedicated to Bajramovic. On the day of his death on the 8th of June, they donated humanitarian equipment for the students in the primary schools in Nis.

- As a Federation of Primary Schools of Roma, high school students, and students, we celebrated the birthday of Saban by using disinfection gels, school supplies, toys, clothing, face masks for children from Nis from five municipalities with help from the “Guardian Angels” organizations “Let’s wash our hands” – didactic books – says Saita.

Eight Bulgarian Roma have been arrested on Wednesday at the coast of the city of Thessaloniki and were charged by the public prosecutor for Children Exploitation and exposing to danger. According to the charges, they forced their children to beg all over the streets of the city, to look for food in the garbage, and after that they’d take the money and gamble in a casino in Bulgaria.

The arrests were made after a four month investigation by the unit for organized crime. The case includes exploitation of eight children, all of them under the age of 11, as said by the Greek newspaper Ekathimerini.
