Romani people in Bulgaria

Romani people in Bulgaria constitute Europe's densest Romani minority. The Romani people in Bulgaria "speak Bulgarian, Turkish or Romani, depending on the region and their religious affiliations."

According to the latest census in 2011, the number of the Romani is 325,343, constituting 4.4% of the total population, in which only one ethnic group could be opted as an answer and 10% of the total population did not respond to the question on ethnic group. In a conclusive report of the census sent to Eurostat, the authors of the census (the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria) identified the census results on ethnicity as a "gross manipulation".

The previous 2001 census recorded 370,908 Romani (4.7% of the population). The preceding 1992 census recorded 313,396 Romani (3.7% of the population), while a secret backstage 1992 census ordered by the Ministry of Interior recorded a figure of 550,000 Romani (6.5% of the population); the Ministry of Interior ordered at least two other secret censuses to enumerate the Romani in denial, the one in 1980 recorded 523,519 Romani, while the one in 1989 recorded that the number of the Romani was 576,927 (6.5% of the population) and that over half of the Romani identified as Turks.

The majority of the estimated 200,000-400,000 Muslim Romani tend to identify themselves as ethnic Turks, some deny their origin, or identify as Bulgarians.

The demographic collapse in Bulgaria affects only ethnic groups other than the Romani. According to data of the European Commission, to which Eurostat belongs, the Romani in Bulgaria number 750,000 and they constitute 10.33% of the population.

An NGO estimates that the number of the Romani in Bulgaria is twice as this high and their population grows by 35,000 a year.

Due to coronavirus, the European Parliament is moving from Strasbourg to Brussels

European Parliament President David Sassoli has decided to cancel a plenary session in Strasbourg next week and hold it in Brussels amid a coronavirus epidemic.

"Based on a supplemented report by the European Parliament's medical service on the development of Covid 19 infection, a plenary session will be held in Brussels next week due to force majeure," Sasoli reported on Twitter.

The European Parliament meets once a month at a plenary session in Strasbourg. mini plenary sessions, which last shorter.

The European Parliament does most of its work on boards, mainly in Brussels.

Preventive measures were introduced at the European Parliament's headquarters earlier this week and limited access for various visitors, lobbyists, parliamentarians and their assistants. More than a hundred public events were canceled.

In France, there are 423 infected and seven deaths from coronavirus, and Belgium has 50 registered but no deaths reported.

Social differences: few rich, many poor

Statistics measure that the differences between the poor and rich are diminishing, but citizens say they do not feel it.

Worldwide, the largest inequality among the population is South Africa with a coefficient of 0.634, followed by Namibia with 0.613 and Haiti with 0.608. The smallest differences are in Ukraine 0.255, Iceland 0.256 and Slovenia 0.257.

Of the countries in the region, besides Slovenia, which is doing exceptionally well on a global scale, Albania is well-placed with 0.290, Serbia with 0.291, Montenegro 0.319, Croatia 0.322, Bosnia 0.331, Greece 0.358, Bulgaria 0.374.

Citizens disagree with statistics. Most of them say that the differences between rich and poor are not only diminishing but also increasing.

"So just look at what cars drive through Skopje, that says enough. Porsche, Lamborghini or Hamer can be seen more often. Such cars were unthinkable here 10 - 20 years ago. On the other hand, over 90% of the other vehicles are ten years old and cost an average of two thousand euros, ”says a resident of the capital.

Fury has revealed how many more fights there will be before he retires

Tyson Fury has announced that he will retire after completing the fight against Deontai Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Fury recently knocked Wilder out of Las Vegas in the seventh round and rose to the world throne again, where he was in 2015, when he defeated Vladimir Klitschko.

The next match Fury will have on July 18 again against Wilder, after which he will fight Anthony Joshua and retire.

"I'll have those two more fights and that's it. Then I'll think about what to do. I've been undefeated in 31 fights, and I've been a professional for 12 years and I was an absolute champion after defeating Klitschko. As for me, Joshua is just keeping my belts, because I never lost them, "says Fury.
