Eid ul-Adha (ar. عيد الأضحى Eid ul-Adha) - a major Islamic holiday that lasts 4 days (10-13 zulhijte, ie the twelfth month according to the Arabic calendar) and is called the so-called holiday of sacrifice because then a sacrifice is offered - kurban, usually rams and are distributed to the poor.

On the first day of the holiday, the prayer for Eid - Eid prayer is performed, with which the believers ask for mercy from Allah. Characteristic of this holiday is the offering of a sacrifice - a sacrifice that has the symbolism of approaching God. The custom is performed by everyone who has the opportunity to do so. Those who offer sacrifices then distribute the meat to the poor, neighbors and relatives. On this day the pilgrimage of the pilgrims who went to pay homage to the Holy Frog in Mecca is crowned.

Eid al-Adha always falls on the same day according to the Islamic calendar, but according to the Gregorian calendar the date is different from year to year because the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar and the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar. The lunar calendar is approximately 11 days shorter than the solar calendar. Every year, Eid al-Adha (like other Islamic holidays) is celebrated on one of two different Gregorian dates in different parts of the world.

Otherwise, this 2020 Eid al-Adha is on July 31 according to the Gregorian calendar, otherwise Hijrah 1441.

The data published by the State Statistical Office in the publication "Northern Macedonia through numbers" show that in 2019 the citizens spent the most money on food and soft drinks (43.1) and utilities (10.8). The costs of repaying loans and investing in real estate do not lag behind either. (8.0)

About six percent of total consumption is spent on transportation, five percent is spent on clothing and footwear, four and a half percent on furniture and household items, and four percent on restaurants and hotels. Citizens spend the least money on education and cultural activities.

Increased costs were recorded for alcoholic beverages, tobacco, food and soft drinks, and decreased costs for clothing and footwear, transportation and housing.
