The arson attack in Bohumín, which killed 11 people, including 3 children, became a pretext for inciting hatred against the Roma community, although the probable perpetrator is not of Roma origin. Nevertheless, several dangerous articles and comments have appeared in which responsibility is attributed to the Roma minority. The pirate analytical team in cooperation with the ROMEA organization mapped the most insidious and brutal comments, and just today the 1st Vice-President of the Pirates Olga Richterová and a representative of the ROMEA association filed a criminal complaint against unknown perpetrators. At the same time, the pirates communicate with some relatives of the victims, who do not hide their horror. 

A criminal complaint was also filed against the writer of the following comment: “If it was a Gypsy woman, then their death is our luck. Strong nerves wish the lord who set it on fire. " The person signing the comment subsequently told the pirate analyst that the author was a minor son who had allegedly used her computer by mistake.

Namely, the director of the PHI Health Center "Goce Delchev" - Delchevo Mrs. Marija Gligorovska, on 12.08.2020 gave a statement on the Internet portal "delcevo365mk", on the occasion of the first person infected with Corona virus Covid 19 in Delchevo. In her statement the director He clearly emphasized that it was a person of Roma ethnicity and that there were several people who were in contact with the patient, and he explained that with "Their psychosis is a little different when one gets sick, they are all together."

We consider that such a statement of the director is inadmissible, unethical and unprofessional, because it immediately alludes to segregation and stereotyping of the Roma community as a whole.

The term psychosis used (by a medical professional), as a characteristic of the citizens of the Roma community, directly stigmatizes that community and characterizes it as citizens who have a disease for inability to distinguish what is real and what is unreal or imaginary.

Any natural and legal person whose behavior causes a violation of privacy and the right to personal data protection is subject to sanctions in accordance with the law, said in a statement by the Association of Roma Lawyers - ZPR Skopje and Association for Democratic Development of Roma SONCE - Tetovo

Selma Selman: People are still not aware that Roma have lived here for over six centuries

She believes that any proposal and in any way to help the Roma community does not need to come from a person who is privileged in every sense and who is from a non-Roma community. In fact, on the contrary, that proposal should come from the Roma themselves, from the Roma community, and not someone who will say: That is the best for the Roma!
