Serbia: Green markets and craft shops open from April 21, older people are allowed to walk

As previously announced, the Government of Serbia has made a decision where the measures are slightly relaxed. Older 65-year-olds will be able to work three times a week, craftsmen who work without close contacts can work, as well as green markets.

As a reminder, from now on the curfew will start at 6 pm, and epidemiologists assure that Serbia is well on its way to dealing with the paedemic, although the number of new patients on a daily basis is still three-digit.

However, doctors say there is room in hospitals, that most infected people have mild symptoms, and that the "Italian" scenario has been avoided for now.

With a similar move, Macedonia is a cadet instead of the beginning of the police hour, which was from 16:00 to 05:00 the next day, but from now on it will be from 19:00.

Dr. Markovski: Not to be hostage to the virus, we need to get used to living with it- In order not to be hostages of this virus, we should live normally and accept this virus. Let's let the doctors deal with this disease and let them get used to it and be ready when this disease comes - says Markovski. But epidemiologists really need to think about another condition, we are now isolated, we will have a relatively small number of positive, but knowing the other diseases, what happens? When does an epidemic end in flu or another respiratory infection? When we have enough population that will have antibodies, which has passed. So, when new infected people start to clash when they have to pass on the cause to another, he is already resistant or does not take it and then that epidemic ends. Asked if citizens should wear gloves and masks, he said: - The gloves, who are they protecting and why are they protecting? These respiratory viruses do not give diarrhea, there should be no corona to wash our hands. Washing your hands is enough after going out. Gloves should not be worn, as washing your hands can destroy the normal flora so that you can get bacterial infections. Masks should be worn. This should be practiced even when we do not have such situations. If one does not feel well, one should wear a mask, thus protecting others. Slovak Armed Forces thank Romani community on Facebook for rescuing soldiers from a car accident

An accident involving a vehicle of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic happened in eastern Slovakia on Easter Sunday. The first to rush to the scene were local Romani people from the nearby community of Soľ (Prešov Region).

Members of the Armed Forces happened to have performed tests for COVID-19 there the day before in the local Romani community. The Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic posted the news to its Facebook profile and news server Vranovske.sk covered it.

Thanks to the aid provided by local Romani people, the soldiers managed to escape the accident without suffering more serious injury. "Today the inhabitants of the community of Soľ, Vranov nad Topľou district, assisted the rescue of our boys from a car accident," the status update reads.

"We tested Romani people in Soľ yesterday, and it was exactly the Roma who called for help for our accident today. THANK YOU! PS: We've breathed a sigh of relief: Everybody will be ok," says the post.

North Macedonia: Investigation of death of pregnant Romani woman denied care for days despite being in labor

The European Roma Rights Centre has reported that a 37-year-old Romani woman and her baby have died in Skopje, North Macedonia after being emergency transported to the hospital from Ohrid, a city in the west of the country. The mother arrived at the hospital only to wait hours for treatment.

The woman then suffered complications that resulted in the death of her baby in utero and died later of sepsis after doctors in the emergency care unit were unable to revive her. The incident occurred on 31 March.

The woman's water had broken days before, and she had been waiting for doctors to accept her at the gynaecological clinic in Ohrid to deliver her child. She visited the clinic several times, complaining of extreme pain and showing signs of infection, but was denied treatment and sent home.

She was finally rushed to the emergency department in Skopje only to be left outside the hospital for more than six hours while personnel waited for the results of a COVID-19 test. The Ministry of Health has since confirmed to the ERRC that her results came back negative.

The woman lived in poor conditions with her husband and two children, aged three and six. Because of her poor background she was unable to afford the cost of traveling to visit a doctor often.
