Bitola: Preda Foundation awarded plaques to 18 Roma who contributed to the development of boxing in Bitola

The Preda Plus Foundation, as part of the project "BAIR - Joint Action of Bitola for Roma Inclusion", last week in the small hall of the Cultural Center in Bitola awarded 18 plaques to boxers of Roma nationality who made a significant contribution to the development of boxing in Bitola and Macedonia.

The event is realized within the sports activities within the project Bair - "Joint Action of Bitola for Roma Inclusion" funded by the European delegation, implemented by COSV - Coordinamento delle Organizzazioni per il Servizio Volontario, Municipality of Bitola and PREDA plus Foundation. The plaques were awarded by Lidija Angelkova, from "PREDA Plus Foundation", from the project "Bair", who at the beginning of the event explained why the plaques are awarded.

- In Bitola a large number of boxers were or are of Roma nationality, but unfortunately they are all somehow forgotten by the people of Bitola, although as everyone who knows boxing claims that they have made a great contribution to the development of boxing, but that they have achieved excellent results. That is why through this event they want to be reminded of them, and to be given plaques like, another evaluation of their work, trainings, fights, victories, medals…

Association Initiative for Women's Rights from Suto Orizari reacts most strongly to the latest developments in the attack on the Roma nurse S.S. by the gynecologist dr. T.M. According to the media statements of the victim's lawyer, a verdict was obtained where the gynecologist was found guilty, but the Medical Chamber has not yet taken appropriate sanctions against the perpetrator.

We are surprised how it is possible for the victim to be further victimized by being forced to work in the same shift with the abuser! This case is discrimination against women, especially Roma women, and has a discouraging and demotivating effect on their further employment and equality in society.

We, the Suto Orizari Women's Rights Initiative, have been fighting for the advancement of Roma women in all spheres of life for many years, and that is why we ask Dr. Komara to act and sanction the perpetrator in accordance with the legal regulations and the medical code of ethics.

Serbia: The New Testament in the Romani language has been promoted, and a translation of the Old Testament is planned

After 11 years of work, the New Testament translation into Romani was published, which was promoted in the Protestant Evangelical Church in Leskovac. The promotion was attended by Vera Mitic, Secretary General of the Bilijska društvo Srbija, priest Miroslav Jovanovic, representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church, representatives of the Islamic Community in Leskovac, as well as representatives of civic organizations. The translation of the New Testament into Romani was supported by the Biblical Society of Serbia, which is a member of a large world family made up of national biblical societies of 145 countries, covering about 200 countries around the world.

Sheriff Bakic, a priest at the Roma Community Protestant Evangelical Church, who translated the New Testament into Romani with Professor Tanet Kurtic and writer Ali Krasniqi, explained that the Gurbec-Arli dialect, which is most prevalent among Roma in southern Serbia, translation.

He explained that this New Testament with these dialects will be able to be used by Roma from regions such as Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia.

Bakic announced the continuation of co-operation with the Biblical Society of Serbia and announced that a translation of the entire Old Testament into Romani was planned.

At the end of the promotion, the New Testament was distributed free of charge to guests and church members.

Romani kickboxer Václav Sivák unequivocally wins the Oktagon Underground MMA fight in a packed O2 Arena in the Czech Republic

Kickboxing's world champion, Václav Sivák, clearly defeated Jonas Magarda of Denmark at the Oktagon Underground event in front of a crowded O2 arena in Prague, Czech Republic over the weekend; the opponents went hard at each other verbally in the runup to the match, with Magard not sparing any attacks on Sivak. "Jonas had nothing to show for himself," said “Bad Boy” Sivák after his victory. 

"I expected more from him, given how he was talking. I don't like people who say something and don't keep their word," Sivák said after the match.

"It gets on my nerves that I didn't knock him out," Sivák also said. It was his first match in front of so many spectators.

"I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was unreal, it was my first experience of so many people in the stands," Sivák said at the post-match press conference.

"The O2 Arena is something else," the young kickboxer told the media. During the evening's main match, leading Czech MMA wrestler Karlos Vemola defeated singer Otakar Peřina, aka "Marpa", in the exhibition boxing
