Roma influencer and make-up artist Anna Snezana Abaz wants to help single mothers and young Roma girls from vulnerable families with a project

The increasingly famous Roma influencer and make-up artist who lives in Sweden, and is originally from Skopje Anna Snezana Abaz who is also a single parent, who is active and earns from the social networks "Tick Talk" etc., wants to help the single Roma mothers and youth from socially vulnerable families.

She and her team of Rachela Asan and Djengis Sulejman are carrying out an action called "Make up Over".

The team is already in contact and making a list of participants. The project is designed through a beauty salon and cosmetic treatments to make these women feel like real women for at least a period.

This includes hairdressing and cosmetic treatment (haircut, nail extensions, facial care, etc.). For all participants in that project, free treatment is provided, which will be financed by Anna Snezana Abaz together with her team.

As Anna says, she also wants those Romani women who do not have that opportunity to feel like real women at least for a moment and to make a small change in their lives and greater emancipation of the Romani woman. Interested Roma women from Skopje can register on the Facebook profiles of Anna Snezana Abaz, Rahela Asan and Djengis Sujleman.

May 16th 1944 – the day of Sinti, Romani and Roma resistance

Today is the anniversary of that evening in 1944, when over 6000 Roma and Sinti stood up to the Nazi SS in Auschwitz-Birkenau and delayed the liquidation of the ‘Gypsy camp’ (zigeunlager) by fighting off the soldiers sent to take them to the gas chambers.

The concentration camp prisoners had received a tip off and so mobilized and united together, making crude weapons from whatever they could.  In fact Roma often  resisted the Nazis by  fighting back in whatever small ways they could, sometimes by singing and many gave their lives believing it was better to die free than live as slaves to the Nazi regime . This should make us proud and give us hope and those are the sentiments that this anniversary will bring forth. Sorrow, pride and resistance in the face of adversity, and hope for a better future.

Annually there is a very moving service organised by The Gypsy Council in Hyde park to remember the night of August 2nd 1944, when the Nazi SS returned to the zigeunlager and succeeded in murdering the remaining 3,000 inhabitants of Auschwitz-Birkenau, but this is not official, nor is it attended or acknowledged by any Government representatives.

On May 12, at the Sports Center Arena in Skopje, the Manifestation was held for the 25th time

The event started at 8 pm, just in time, and lasted 4 hours and 40 minutes. Long but worthwhile to endure to the end.

Musicians, athletes, actors and other public figures participated in a recognizable atmosphere as in previous editions. And this time it was interesting and cheerful. The leading part was driven by Sasko Kocev by default, with several years ago reinforced with Atanas and Tino.

But this year passed in the sign of the prefix "Roma" because in the timing of part of the performance among the attendees was the happiest at the performance of the Orchestra of Jumbo Agushev and the virtuoso Ferus Mustafov.

The crowning achievement was the award for lifetime achievement of Vaska Jankovska, who performed her legendary "Herdelezi" in front of the audience.

Well done to Jumbo, Ferus and most of all to Vaska Jankovska, the pride of the Roma!

Shutka, after two days without public transport, received a promise that the situation will be normalized from today

The private bus carriers in Skopje for three months have not received money from the City of Skopje for the transportation they perform and the lines they maintain. Due to that, certain transporters have not been driving for several days, so there are no buses on some of the lines and the citizens are left without public transport.

Such is the case with the settlement of Suto Orizari where lines "19" and "20" did not drive in the last two days.

After a reaction from all sides, a promise was received, primarily from the city of Skopje, that from Friday the situation will be normalized.

The citizens of Shutka say that in order to get to work they have to use taxis.

Private carriers are paid through JSP "Skopje" and there has been no director for a week since the current Ivan Ilievski resigned last Thursday less than 6 months after he was appointed to office. The City of Skopje does not say when they will appoint a new one and why it has not been done so far.
