Croatia: Famous Roma rights activist arrested! They suspect that she charged falsely for expensive documents!

Visnja Dujmovic --Krijan, lawyer and ombudsman for Roma rights, was arrested last week, writes the Croatian "Telegraf"
As a lawyer from Slavonski Brod, in addition to criminal law, she also worked on human rights. In its Human Rights Office, it signed an agreement with the Government of Croatia to provide free legal aid to the Roma minority in Croatia.
She is accused of obtaining foreign passports together with several other people from Slavonski Brod and by inserting photos of people who wanted to have Croatian documents.
They then applied for false citizenship and birth certificates with those documents.
At the beginning, they did not doubt anything in her work, because she worked for the protection of Roma rights, and she charged from 15 to 23 thousand euros for the false documents. It is suspected that in that way she earned around 240,000 euros.
In the whole process, they suspect that there are also two police officers from the Brodsko-Posavaska police administration, writes Telegraf.

Actor Dragan Maksimovi –-Maksa was killed 20 years ago just because he looked like a Roma

Twenty years ago, on the night between November 17 and 18, 2000, the great Yugoslav and Serbian actor Dragan Maksimovi --Maksa was horribly beaten to death. He died of his injuries on February 4, 2001.
He was killed by neo-Nazis, the fans of a football club, because he thought he was Roma.
In fact, in all that horror and banal act, the great actor and even bigger man did not want to prosecute "those children" as he named them while he was on his deathbed.
The perpetrators of this heinous crime were never arrested and brought to justice.
He left behind his wife and seven-year-old daughter.
We hope that at least someone by February 4, 2021 will gather strength and mind to organize at least on that day to remember the great man and all the other victims of similar acts.
Dragan - sorry for the fact that no one remembered you!

International Men's Day

International Men's Day (IMD) is an annual international event celebrated on the 19th of November. The objectives of celebrating an International Men's Day are set out in 'The Six Pillars of International Men's Day'. It is an occasion to celebrate boys' and men's achievements and contributions, in particular for their contributions to nation, society, community, family, marriage, and childcare. The broader and ultimate aim of the event is to promote basic humanitarian values.
Inaugurated in 1992 on 7 February by Thomas Oaster, the project of International Men's Day was conceived one year earlier on 8 February 1991. The project was re-initialised in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago. The longest running celebration of International Men's Day is Malta, where events have occurred since 7 February 1994. Now as Malta was the only country that observed the February date of celebrating Men and their contribution to the society, the Maltese AMR Committee voted in 2009 to shift the date for IMD to 19th November.
Jerome Teelucksingh, who revived the event, chose 19 November to honour his father's birthday and also to celebrate how on that date in 1989 Trinidad and Tobago's football team had united the country with their endeavours to qualify for the World Cup. Teelucksingh has promoted International Men's Day as not just a gendered day but a day where all issues affecting men and boys can be addressed. He has said of IMD and its grass roots activists, "They are striving for gender equality and patiently attempt to remove the negative images and the stigma associated with men in our society".

My position: United in diversity: Nationalism is like a wild river - fast and uncontrollable!

Nationalism is a global phenomenon. It can be defined as both collective and individual paranoia. Nationalism is easily recognized, because the nationalist ego is at a high level, and that does not bring us good things for the future…
At the same time, we must be aware that nationalism and hatred are like a wild river. That wild river is fast and very difficult to control. If external factors join it (plastically explained it is similar to that wild river that flows through the landscapes and small tributaries flow into it) then there is a danger that the river will overflow and cause major floods with catastrophic consequences.
So it is with nationalism and hatred. Regarding the desired EU membership, however, we need to go down a bit for certain things related to nationalism and we obviously can not deal with the current situation that is happening to us.
In that regard, we need to accept the conditions that are crucial for entry, which we recognize will not be easy, to change habits and eradicate, but for future generations it would not be as much of a problem as it is now for these generations.
It is necessary to start on one's own. If we are ready to change for the better, everything else will start working. But we need to be aware of ourselves and want to improve as a society. In other words, effort and change are needed if we are to overcome nationalism and hatred. In other words, Let's unite in diversity.
