What does Ramadan fasting mean?

Ramadan is a month of fasting throughout the Muslim world. It is a mental worship that increases the believer's patience and strengthens his body. It is prescribed for the second year after the Hijra. The revelation of the Qur'an began in the month of Ramadan, as a signpost and clear proof for mankind.

Fasting as an institution was prescribed to the former peoples before Muhammad (pbuh). It is known that Musa (pbuh) fasted for forty days. Fasting is an educational Islamic tool that teaches us to overcome ourselves and our evil inclinations, develops compassion and generosity in us, teaches us to be brave and resilient.

The definition of fasting is: Abstinence from eating, drinking, smoking, intimate intercourse from dawn until sunset, in order to achieve Allah's pleasure and reward.

It is obligatory for every adult, smart, present Muslim, and Muslim woman who is out of the menstrual cycle or postpartum hemorrhage to fast.

In Stip a solemn ceremony by the Network for systemic and permanent solutions on the occasion of the 8th of April the International Roma Day

In the municipal hall in Stip in a solemn way started the caravan organized by the Advocacy Network for systemic and permanent solutions for integration of the Roma in the Republic of Northern Macedonia under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, on the occasion of the International Roma Day - April 8. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Stip Ivan Jordanov, Zoran Dimov Coordinator of the Network, Erol Ademov from the association of multiethnic society for human rights Stip, Shenaj Osmanov member of the Network and other prominent guests and citizens from Stip.

At the very introduction, the Mayor of Stip Jordanov addressed the audience with a note that as a local self-government they make efforts to raise to a higher level the issues that affect the Roma community in this city. In addition, the documentary film on the history of the Roma "Sky, Wheel, Earth" produced by SP BTR was broadcast. The film itself left a deep impression on the audience. The coordinator of the Network and also the screenwriter of the film Zoran Dimov spoke about the film.

Shenaj Osmanov also read the declaration by the Network.

Then a discussion took place among the attendees regarding the tribune which was titled "Roma, yesterday, today and tomorrow". A small refreshing cocktail was organized at the end of the event.

The Caravan of the Network continues with its activities in the next three days in Kumanovo, Delchevo and the main event on April 8 in Skopje in the Government of RN Macedonia.

On the eve of the International Roma Day - April 8, the Advocacy Network for Systemic and Permanent Solutions for Roma Integration in the Republic of Northern Macedonia under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia from 5 to 8 April 2022 organizes events in four cities across the state in Stip on April 5, Kumanovo on April 6, on April 7 in Delchevo and on April 8 in Skopje in the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

The mayors and other representatives of the local self-government, as well as representatives of the NGO sector as well as citizens announced their presence at all events.

In addition to the presentation on the significance of April 8 in all those municipalities, there will be a discussion on the organized tribunes on the topic "Roma, yesterday, today and tomorrow" as well as the presentation of the documentary on Roma history "Sky, Wheel, Earth" produced by SP BTR.

At the main event in Skopje in the Government of RS Macedonia, in addition to a thematic discussion with several ministers from the government, at the end there will be a solemn act, in awarding plaques for special contribution to the Roma community for several prominent Roma, and plaques will be awarded initiative of the Advocacy Network for systemic and lasting solutions for Roma integration in the Republic of Northern Macedonia. The Declaration prepared by the Network will also be read and sent to the public.
