Yesterday, the challenges in the implementation of the Law on persons not registered in the Birth Register were discussed. During that meeting, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice, Muhamed Toci, noted:

"We continue to enable the unregistered persons to receive a permanent systemic solution.

The target group are vulnerable categories of citizens, more than half of whom are members of the Roma community.

The Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia creates special policies, strategies intended for this vulnerable category.

"Let us all commit ourselves together to the proper implementation of the law in order to create a society that provides equal rights and opportunities to all citizens."

A Russian family in Serbia accommodates Ukrainians in their hotel for free

A Russian couple who condemned their country's invasion of Ukraine have received refugees at their hotel in Serbia, an EU aspirant but a traditional Russian ally who is hesitant to condemn the Kremlin for an unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

But for dozens of Ukrainians, the hotel in central Serbia, run by Mikhail Goluptsov and his wife Vera, is welcome.

Since 2019, he and his wife have been running a hotel in Prnjavor, a small town in central Serbia.

Vojvodina's multiethnic feminist network has supported the Roma community in Ukraine and the Ukrainian people over the Russian invasion of that country.

"We want to send messages of support to the Ukrainian people, as well as to the Roma community that is there and survives various forms of torture, trauma, racism and discrimination," said Veska Qerimovic of the Novi Becej Roma Association.

She added that basic human rights must be respected, that women and girls at risk of violence must be supported, and that we must work together to prevent violence, racism, discrimination and early marriages.

The Vojvodina Multiethnic Feminist Network is running the "Roma Women's Activism Month" campaign from March 8 to April 8, and said their goal is to emphasize the importance of respecting the rights of Roma women, living without violence, femicide, racism and discrimination. .

They also added that during this campaign they point to the need to stop early child marriage, human rights violations and the departure of girls from the education system.
