Czech MPs to debate compensation bill for women as state refuses to acknowledge ‘attempted genocide’

Elena Gorolová was 21 when she gave birth to her second son. “The doctor told me I would need to deliver via a C-section otherwise I would be risking the health of me and the baby.” In the delivery room, a nurse gave her papers to sign. “I was in so much pain … I was in no state to think about what I was signing,” says the social workerfrom the Czech Republic. She had unknowingly signed an agreement to be sterilised. Until now, the Czech government has not officially acknowledged or compensated Roma women such as Gorolová for a government-led eugenics agenda from the early 1970s until it was officially abolished in 1993. No one knows how many women were affected. The European Roma Rights Centre says hundreds of women were systematically sterilised throughout the 1990s with the last-known case as recently as 2007. Now a discussion of a proposed law to allow victims of coercive sterilisation to apply for reparations is scheduled for the next parliamentary session on Wednesday. A draft bill from 2019 proposing a £10,200 payment to victims never reached the statute books. The Roma are the largest minority in the Czech Republic, with an estimated population of 250,000.

Veaposka does not accept the report from the Medical Chamber – I will demand justice until the end of my life!

The mother Jildiz Veaposka who was left without a uterus, kidney and an ovary, does not accept the Expert Finding of the Medical Chamber which states that, no medical error was made from Dr. Muhamed Asani.

 

In a statement for medium, she demanded that the Medical Chamber explain the possibility of losing three organs without any medical error.

- Is this normal? Nor the public, nor anyone to know who are the doctors from the Medical Chamber who are investigating this situation which should decide whether there was an error or not.

Nobody knows them, but the doctor, the director know who is in the Commission. I do not accept this, because all of the doctors who were there are Albanians. There wasn’t a Macedonian doctor. I went to Struga to give birth and I was healthy. I went to give birth, and after the birth I leave without a kidney, uterus and ovary, not to mention that I woke up in KARIL – Intensive Care Unit!

I demand the Medical Chamber to come out and to publically and medically explain, why were those organs removed if there was no medical error? If not, what could it be? Asks Veaposka.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that the Expert Finding did not conclude a medical error, however, we are still waiting for details of what exactly was concluded.

Zajecar, Serbia: Graffiti with death threats written on the walls of a Roma family house!

Two years ago, at the beginning of April, graffiti with fascist symbols and graffiti calling for death were written on the house of a member of the Roma community Mirko Jovanovic from Zajecar, some Zajecar media reported. The case was reported to the police, while Mirko Jovanovi си left Zajeчаari for fear for his safety.
