Brchko, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Shooting in the Prutace settlement. One person injured!

According to unofficial information, in the Prutace settlement near Brchko, on the late hours of the 11th of March, a gun fight occurred where one person was severely injured and is in the intensive care unit in the Brchko hospital.

 

The residents of this settlement are scared and fear for their safety, because as they say, this wasn’t the first time that this has happened in their place.

 

The whole gun incident happened in several minutes.

 

A grim reminder is that this settlement is mostly resided by Roma who are mostly forgotten by the local authorities. There are often unfortunate events that often end tragically, Citizens testify that there are often cases of suicides, traffic accidents, where many children lose their lives. For the protest in 2019 in this neighborhood there was a fire where two children lost their lives.

The census will be conducted in the field with enumerators who have to enter each household, which means that physical contact is inevitable. In such cases, each enumerator will use personal protective equipment consisting of a protective mask, hand sanitizer spray, and a tin can.

The protection protocol includes:

- Mandatory wearing of a protective mask (KH95) in households for the entire duration of the census.

- Mandatory maintenance of the prescribed distance (1.5-2 meters) for the entire duration of the census in the home.

- It is forbidden to take out, move and change the protective mask during the census in the home.

- Drinking and eating are prohibited during the household census.

- Using hand sanitizers when entering and leaving the home.

- External disinfection of the laptop before entering and leaving the household.

- If there are conditions, every opportunity should be used for enumeration in the yard, on the terrace, veranda with mandatory wearing of a mask and keeping a distance.

- Before entering the household, the enumerator must put tins on the shoes.

 

Sahpaska: The Ministry continues its support for the Roma community, through active inclusion of the Roma in the labor market, preschool education and obtaining personal documents

The Minister Mrs. Sahpaska pointed out the importance for the inclusion of the Roma in the labor market, through information for the active measures and policies of the Employment Agency, then the obtaining of documents for personal identifications, issues where the Ministry for Labor and Social Policies is actively workin in order to raise the public awareness for the exclusion of the Roma children in the preschool education and continuing the educational process. She pointed out that this is one of the ways to realize the concept of equal society for all, or equal opportunities for all citizens.

The speakers agreed that in order to succeed in the project, there needs to be direct communication with the Roma population in the community where they live, on a local level, in order to establish communication between the citizens of the Roma population and the institutions.

Goran Gavrilov, the owner of Channel77 and MMS, has passed away, a great media friend of the Roma people

After being ill for a short period of time, Goran Gavrilov (54) has passed away on the 11th of March. He is the founder and owner of Kanal 77 (Channel 77) and the portal Macedonia Media Service. Gavrilov was the founder and first man of the Private Electronic Media in Macedonia Association (PEMMA). Due to his knowledge in this area and his professionalism, he was included in the preparation of all legal regulations related to media operations in this country.

"After this untimely death, the Roma media (especially TV BTR - National) lost an honest and dedicated media worker who with his courage and readiness always helped us Roma in the media space."

At the very beginning of the work of TV BTR, Goran without hesitation offered and provided technical assistance to TV BTR” – said the owner of TV BTR National, Zoran Dimov.

On his behalf, Dimov expressed his most sincere condolences to Goran’s family, relatives and friends.
