Serbia: Will the stadium in Leskovac bear the name of Amet Ametović, the hero of the Battle of Kumanovo in 1912?

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, at the press conference he held on Friday, October 21 at the city stadium in Leskovac, which is under construction, suggested to the mayor of Leskovac and the city government that the citizens propose the name of the city. a new football stadium.

The Roma from Leskovac submitted an initiative for the new football stadium to bear the name of the hero of the Battle of Kumanovo, Amet Ametović, bearer of the star of Karađorđe with swords.

We believe that the hero, thanks to whom the Serbian army won the Kumanovo battle, deserves such a representative object to bear the name of this brave hero and thus pay tribute to his fellow citizen, who wrote the Serbian military history.

Amet Ametović (Leskovac 1873 — Leskovac, 1965) was a Serbian military trumpeter of Romani origin, a participant in the Balkan Wars, as well as in the First World War. He is the holder of the Star of Karagjorge military order with swords, as well as several other awards and recognitions.

Another nebula on the Informer portal and the journalist Dragan J Vučivić at the expense of the uninformed Roma from Belgrade

The question was always raised whether Dragan J Vučivić is a normal person. Another news article (dez)Informer, which pushes the Roma people into a total nebula. Will anyone react? The Informer portal and the journalist Dragan J Vučivić, at the expense of the uninformed Roma from Belgrade, made a text where he presented the new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to the Roma from the Roma settlements around Belgrade, who presented him to the Roma as having Roma roots.

The reaction of the Roma from Belgrade conveys them in their own way. According to his text, the Roma reacted like this:

"Finally, one of ours succeeds in life", Here we are waiting for our Rishi to be prime minister, "I know him, he is a good man, I wish him luck"

Other Roma from Karaburma reportedly said: "I don't know him personally, but I hope that now we Roma will be better off."

In the conversation with the other Roma, they allegedly told the journalist that the whole settlement celebrated when they found out that Rishi had become the Prime Minister of Britain.

PS If it wasn't sad it would be funny

In Orehovica in the north of Croatia – bilingualism for Roma

The small municipality of Orehovica in the north of Croatia is the first and so far the only municipality in which the Roma minority exceeded 33 percent of the population and achieved the right to equal official use of their language, i.e. to bilingual boards at institutions.

Local authorities say that there will be no problem in realizing that right.

Also, in local elections in three years, Roma in Međimurje will be able to elect their own deputy prefect.

According to the 2021 Census, the number of Roma in the municipality of Orehovica in Međimurje County has grown significantly, so there are 916 of them, i.e. 33.68 percent of the total population of the municipality. According to Article 12 of the Constitutional Law on the Rights of Minorities, this gives them the right to equal official use of languages and letters.

In practice, this means bilingual plaques at state institutions in the municipality and bilingual street names.
