Serbia: Will the stadium in Leskovac bear the name of Amet Ametović, the hero of the Battle of Kumanovo in 1912?

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, at the press conference he held on Friday, October 21 at the city stadium in Leskovac, which is under construction, suggested to the mayor of Leskovac and the city government that the citizens propose the name of the city. a new football stadium.

The Roma from Leskovac submitted an initiative for the new football stadium to bear the name of the hero of the Battle of Kumanovo, Amet Ametović, bearer of the star of Karađorđe with swords.

We believe that the hero, thanks to whom the Serbian army won the Kumanovo battle, deserves such a representative object to bear the name of this brave hero and thus pay tribute to his fellow citizen, who wrote the Serbian military history.

Amet Ametović (Leskovac 1873 — Leskovac, 1965) was a Serbian military trumpeter of Romani origin, a participant in the Balkan Wars, as well as in the First World War. He is the holder of the Star of Karagjorge military order with swords, as well as several other awards and recognitions.
